Thanks To Everyone For Your Support

I want to thank everyone that voted for and worked for me during this campaign. We worked hard and we can be proud of what we have accomplished. We may not have won the election, but we can be proud that we worked within the system and ran a good, clean campaign.

I am proud to stand with everyone that worked with me on the campaign and call you friend. Also congratulations are in order for my opponent Jim Coley as well as John Farmer, Bill Key, Steve McManus, Bob Patterson and Mark White.

I cannot thank Charles Pitman enough for being a gentleman throughout the campaign. He suffered the loss of his mother and kept on fighting. I have nothing but respect for Mr. Pitman and his family. They were a joy to be around. I wish Mr. Pitman and his family all the best in the coming years and I want them to know that if they ever need anything I will be more than happy to help.

The race is over, but it is just one small battle. We have much to do over the years and we will not quit. James, Mitchell, Jess, Bill, Angelo, Art, Gregg, Michael, Seth, Charles, Chris, Mickey, Farmer John and the rest of you be ready to work hard. We have much ground to cover and many more battles to fight. God Bless you all.

Guilty By Association

Well, since some of you think I am guilty by association here are some extra associations for you to ponder.

I am black. Working on the guilty by association theme it only seems logical to say that since I put up yard signs, passed out literature and voted for Tonya Saafir, a black woman (I could possibly be guilty of being a black woman), I am guilty of being black.

I am an illegal immigrant from Finland. Since I am associated with a Finnish national and even have a Finland for Austin blog I must be guilty of being from Finland. I might not even be eligible to seek elected office since I am possibly an illegal Finnish immigrant and could be subject to arrest.

To keep this from being 50 pages long I will summarize my guilty associations. I am guilty of being a car, paramedic, telemarketer, dog, horse trader, County Commissioner, Memphis City Councilman, Italian, Indian, American Indian, TV reporter, radio station owner, cat, tile setter, TV repairman, furniture manufacturer, World War II vet, Korean War vet, Vietnam vet, Jewish, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Church of Christ, Mormon, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Mexican, Venezuelan, British, Liberian, Pakistani, Iraqi, Kurdish, Croatian, German, Spanish, Muslim, Chinese and much much more.

I know I am being a little over the top with this one, but I am tired of this same argument. If I am guilty of being something because I am friends with one person then I am guilty of being everything else I am associated with. When you post on here you are guilty by association as well so remember that the next time you post. It all makes sense when you throw accusations my way, but the reverse never fits any of you.

My Prayers Go Out To The Pitman Family

I was sorry to hear that Charles Pitman's mother passed away on Thursday. Everyone please take a moment and pray that God will give the Pitman family strength in their time of need.

Let's Get These Rumors Out Of The Way (Surely They Didn't Expect We Wouldn't See This Coming)

Over the last week or so the "negatives" have been flying. They are not coming out of my camp mind you, but some can't leave it alone. I have been called everything from non-Christian to a David Duke flunky. Now let's address these issues one at a time.

I am a Christian. (that was an easy one)

I am not endorsed by the John Birch Society. They have never endorsed a candidate in their history.

I am not endorsed by the White Citizens Council. As a matter of fact I have never even heard of the White Citizens Council. Do they even exist or have they ever existed?

I am not endorsed or supported by David Duke. If Mr. Duke is supporting me then where in the hell is my check?

I just want to know where they are getting this stuff. OH! I know, it is all fabricated because they cannot beat me on the issues. I direct you to a post from a little while back. THOSE THAT CANNOT BEAT YOU WILL TRY AND DISCREDIT YOU. It seems that this is a classic case of this.

I have told everyone that if they want to attack me or my campaign please have those little things called facts. I know someone that hasn't learned this lesson yet that really needs to.

Of course Mr. Cracker when posting about me links The Political Cesspool instead of my campaign site. I must say that was a slick move on behalf of Mr. Cracker.

What side are these liberals on? Are they trying to help me by saying that my opponent, well truthfully one of my opponents, is more liberal than I? I Finally Made The Big-Time

Seriously, I must give a big "THANK YOU" to Alphapatriot for his support of me in this campaign.

Also while I am in the thanking mood I must thank the local, daily, newspaper for not endorsing me. I do not think an endorsement from them would be favorable to my campaign since they are an overtly liberal publication. When conservative talk-show host Mike Fleming lambasts them almost daily for their liberal slant it couldn't possibly help a truly conservative candidate to have their endorsement.

Remember we only have until July 29 for early voting and August 3 is election day so please get out and vote. Republican numbers are still down and we need everyone to show up.

Now that we have been found out by some brilliant people I figure it is time to tell about the blood drinking and ritual sacrifice that goes on at the meetings. As some may know we have to swear an oath with death as the consequence for disclosing our secrets. Only a select few are able to stomach the severe torture one must endure to gain membership so our ranks are few. Thousands have died over the past six months of our existence trying to gain entrance into our sacred club.

Well, now that we have this silliness out of the way, everyone is invited to attend the Shelby County Conservative Republican Club meetings. Every candidate that comes is allowed their time to speak and everyone is shown respect. We are the friendliest club (I am a touch prejudiced towards the club) in town. Come join us at Coletta's on Appling every first Tuesday of the month. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM sometimes with the eat and greet starting at 6:00 PM. Please come join us. I can safely say that you won't be disappointed and you won't even lose blood.

Some of the folks that are NOT on the Coalition of Conservative Republicans' ballot are freaking out. They have called the Republican Party and asked that we be stopped from handing out this ballot. This stinks of an overtly communist attempt to censor free speech. I know that everyone running for office has been jockeying for endorsements or support. Are the rest of us that didn't get some of the support that you did crying about it? Well, of course we aren't. One of my opponents was even endorsed by a seated representative. Is that not a major party no no? It really doesn't matter since he is entitled to any endorsement he gets. This is still a free country and everyone needs to back-off and let it go. The more we sit around and complain about this foolishness the more the Democrats are going to beat us at the polls. The numbers I have so far put them 2100 votes ahead of us county wide. We need to turn out or we will be run out.

Rory Bricco/Tonya Saafir

I finally met Rory tonight and though worried about him from the start of the District 8 campaign my fears were laid to rest. I think that Rory will make a great choice to run against Tanner in the District 8 Congressional race. He was well spoken, committed and right on target. I also found out he knows quite a lot about the trade agreements, immigration and US sovereignty. I find this rather comforting and wish Rory all the best in his campaign. I am more than happy to share a spot on the Conservative Republican Ballot with him. I also share a spot with Tonya Saafir who I cover as you read on.

Now let's get to Tonya Saafir. A few posts back we covered an assault on Tonya and her kids. This character assassin claimed that she was married to a Muslim and had 1/2 Muslim kids. This doesn't bother me, but it seemed to really drive this Dr. Willard fellow crazy. I saw Tonya at a meeting tonight so I asked her about the father of her children. I presented the question about her 1/2 Muslim kids and she started laughing. I asked her about her Muslim husband and she laughed even harder. That was when she told me that her husband was "just a black guy from Philadelphia" and that he had never been a Muslim. She is Baptist and her kids are Baptist and none of them had ever been Muslim. Seems to me those damn facts get in the way of these character assaults. I told Tonya to WELCOME TO MY WORLD. I think she will make a great Judge and these attacks don't seem to be getting her down. I wish her well in her race for judge and I will be voting for her.

This Is An Example Of Badgering By Your Opponent

Here are two emails that I received. I know for a fact that the first one was initiated at the request of one of my opponents (or his son) the other I think is the same, but I am not 100% positive. It has the same type of badgering rhetoric so I think I am right on target. Notice how neither was signed. When I replied to the first one I received no reply back, but my intelligence was insulted on this blog by one opponents' son for my response to the email. So you tell me if it was a set-up. I am sure that whatever reply I make to the second email will end up at the same place so I just put it here for everyone to see.

I DO NOT AGREE WITH BUSH AND HIS IMMIGRATION POLICIES, THE SECURITY AND PROSPERITY PARTNERSHIP, CAFTA AND THE PATRIOT ACT! Does that answer your question about Bush?

Hello, I was informed by someone that whe you ran against Tre Hargett, you ran as an Independent candidate? Why did you not run as a Republican? It makes me question why you are running as a Republican candidate now and why you didn't against Tre Hargett.

While driving around Bartlett, I have noticed something that puzzles me. Why is it that you have put two signs in some people's yards? For example, onthe portion of Altruria Rd between Summer and Stage, Isaw at least 4 houses (maybe more) that had 2 signsinstead of just one. Isn't 1 sign per yard enough? Also, why do you have about 7 signs on Summer nearElmore (in front of the strip mall with the Subway)all within about 5 or 10 feet of each other? One ortwo is sufficient but when you put up 7, it makes youlook very desperate and just plain tacky. The samegoes for putting 2 signs in one person's yard. I Said No Negative And I Keep My Word (but)

The "but" is just to let everyone know that on August 4 win or lose all bets are off. I will have a tell-all post ready shortly after the campaign to let everyone know about all of the issues I have encountered during the campaign. You can believe that it will be a lengthy list of items that none will want to live without.

I also want to thank John Farmer for endorsing my campaign. I don't think I have met a man that reminds me more of my father than John Farmer. Me giving John that kind of praise is HUGE considering how I feel about my father. John is someone to watch in the upcoming years. I think that in a short time John will be a major figure in the political arena. He has the courage, ideals, personality and the drive to get the job done. Who is endorsing who here? Candidates can only provide so much information and it is imperative that we research them all. I know with the ballot being as large as it is this will be a daunting task. Spend the few hours needed to research these candidates now so we don't have to suffer with them in office for years. I am including myself in there as well. If you happen to live in my district and plan on voting for me please make sure I am the right candidate for you.

Some campaign tactics sicken me to no end and when I experience them I’m reassured that my decision to support or not to support a candidate was the correct one. Last month I met Tonya Saafir at the Shelby County Conservative Republican Club. As far as I know she is a Democrat by Party affiliation, but I was very impressed with her life story, her values and with her personally.
Yesterday I got an interesting email from “Dr. Bill Willard”.
Hello,I have read all the blog from you and your support for Tonya Saafir. Well, my question is what Endorsements has Tonya Saafir gotten and do you not think Endorsements say alot about the candidate? Endorsements must be important since everyone wants them. I have gotten several pieces of email saying simply Judge Paula Skahan has recieved the Endorsements. Yet I have not recieved one saying Tonya Saafir. I have recieved email from all the unions, Afro-American deputy, Deputy sheff. department, National Black Asso., and several letters from employees and volunteers from Tennessee National Nurses Asso. and St. Jude supporting the Judge not Saafir. I’m sure you would stand behind a strong candidate, so where are the endorsements for Saafir? I’m just wondering what you see that no one else is seeing. The email looked a little suspicious to me, so I decided to do a little checking before responding and found this comment on TennWatch (among others).
Has no one caught the last name? It’s Muslim. Yes she married Muslim and has children by Muslim. If that doesn’t say enough. I don’t care if it is her EX-husband of only a year, her kids are not EX-kids. The are half muslim and always will be. Where are the REAL AMERICANS? If I had my choice between experience, american, and to simply know the american law….well lets think…mmm.. I think my vote is clear-Judge Paula Skahan. Casting evil on her because of one ruling? Gee, well lets let the first ex-muslim (as Saafir says) take the Judge’s place. No thanks. Tonya Saafir has no experience. Dr. Willard, Thanks for the inquiry and support. As I am sure you are aware, there is an internet campaign being waged by Judge Skahan supporters feeding a lot of misinformation. Including from you “Dr. Willard” who is even waging a negative campaign against her religion. I think this is in poor taste and quite frankly you should be ashamed. Such tactics convince me that indeed Judge Skahan must be feeling challenged. I’m not sure what endorsements the Saafir campaign has picked up at this point and I would refer you to her campaign for that information. Yet you have helped solidify my support for Ms. Saafir. I seem to recall a fire in Rome around the 64 AD which Nero blamed on Christians and led to a horrific persecution of Christians. Further, in 1633 a group of Christians called the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock to escape religious persecution in Europe. And with the founding of this Nation, our rights were established by the Bill of Rights, securing the Right for all Americans to worship their Creator in accordance with the dictates of their own conscience. So such negative campaign tactics go against everything I personally believe as a Christian and violate the very principles upon which this Nation was founded.

The information I received about your support was from your personal web page. I’m not aware of any Internet campaign for Judge Skahan. It was passed to me by a public defender that Saafir had married Muslim, which I take very serious because as many know my son and daughter are in Iraq NOW. I will never be ashamed standing up for my son, daughter, and American. With us at war, the Muslim religion is very serious- look at the headlines from New York just today. As far as what Judge Skahan is feeling - I would not know. I’m going on facts received from several posting of endorsements. Which I took your advised and looked into. The Saafir Campaign has not received one endorsements not even from the Afro-American Deputy or the National Black Asso. (NBA). I find it quite interesting that you support someone who has not received any endorsements. Thanks to you my solid VOTE will not be for you. I will gladly place any information on Steve Cohen or Ed Staton in any of my offices through out Tennessee. You have help Solidify my support and contributions.

Okay…enough of being nice about it. People have NO business attacking a woman’s children in a political campaign! I cannot find the words (which decency would permit) to express my disgust with attacking a candidates children who have absolutely NOTHING to do with a campaign. Hopefully I will see Tonya at next weeks SCCRC meeting so that I can give her a hug and my sympathies for having to endure such nonsense.
Jackson Baker (Memphis Flyer) has a commentary and analysis of the controversy surrounding some of the judicial races, including this one. It should be an interesting race to watch with the Dems fighting over racial issues, sexual orientation, political ideology and so forth. So I guess this is one of those Democrat campaigns that has the potential to get very ugly.
Background material:
I thought it might be constructive to include this report from the St. Peters event from last weekend. Tonya is up against some folks that seem to have no restraint or sense of fairness.
The only thing that put a damper on the whole day for me was…….I had a jug set out taking donations to be given to the Paralyzed Veterans, with each donation the person would get a 3 x 5 American Flag.Paula Skahan (Judge) and her female lover, complained to the event staff about it and the staff made me stop taking the donations.Her “female lover” came by our booth 2 or 3 times acting a d**n fool, speaking ill of Conservatives, wanting to know why the money was not going to St. Judes……just being loud and beligerant.
Also, Thaddeus Matthews gives a well reasoned analysis to support his endorsement of Judge Skahan and not Saafir. Now “Dr. Willard”, read Thad’s analysis and reasoning…that is how it is done. And although I agree with Thad’s reasoning on qualifications, I simply am not able to support a Judge who shuts down the “sale” of little American flags to raise money for those who gave so much to defend the law she is sworn to serve.

This happened to me today (7-6-06) while I was driving down the road.

My phone rang and it was from a number I didn't know. I answered the phone and an older sounding lady asked if I was the Republican. I answered that I was Austin Farley. She then asked if I was on the front page of the newspaper. I asked her if she meant the front page of the Bartlett Express and she said yes. She then proceeded to tell me she couldn't vote for me. I guess I asked why she couldn't vote for me and she replied that my face looked like a woman's ass. (Her words not mine) I did a double-take and had to ask just what she had said to me. She then repeated that with my beard and mustache my face looked like a woman's ass. I was speechless at this point, but I managed to ask if this was the only reason she called me. She stated that to tell me my face looked like a woman's butt and that she couldn't vote for me because of my butt face was the only reason for the call. I thanked her for calling and said goodbye.

I must say that this actually made my day. I was a little melancholy until that phone call and after that call I had a grin from ear to ear. I must say that I have never had a phone call quite like that one. I don't know if someone put this lady up to calling me or if she was just different, but either way it was an absolute riot. I hope that everyone finds the humor in this as have all of my friends and I. Please forgive the lack of quotes as well. Will anything happen tomorrow that could possibly top this? I must say that I truly doubt it will.

Early voting begins July 14, 2006. I will have a list of all of the times and early voting locations as soon as I get the chance to sit down and re-type it. I haven't quite figured out how to paste things on here so they look decent so hang in there and don't make too much fun of me. You can tell by the post from John Farmer's blog below that my pasting skills are lacking, but his is at least legible.

Regardless if you vote for me or not, please vote. There is no better way to effect government than exercising your right to vote. Do not stay at home and say my vote doesn't count. It will never count if you don't cast it.

One of the TN Representative District 97 Republican Primary candidates continues to get blasted for his association with a local talk show host, James Edwards.
Not if your idealogical buddy and soulmate and his stormfront buddies show up. Look what Edwards has been posting; y’all make up your own minds.
Austin Farley pioneered a Millington talk show, the Political Cesspool. When he began his campaign for the State Rep slot, he left his host duties and turned them over to Edwards. Now Edwards is a plain talking white pride sort of guy. I was rather suspicious of him when I first met him as well, but after I got to know him I discovered he is not racist at all. He has nothing against other races and is all for every race taking pride in their culture and heritage. That does not mean I agree with him, just that I respect his point of view. Over time I grew to consider him a friend as well.
The negative remarks towards Farley over his association with Edwards made me realize that political correctness has really gone amok these days. Before knowing Edwards I cultivated a friendship with Thaddeus Matthews, another local out spoken radio personality with a similar spin, but more on the other end of the race spectrum. As I take an inventory, I have a wide range of friends, to include “liberals” and “libertarians”, with a few John Birch Society folks thrown in for good measure. I even like that looney tune James Hart! I have always enjoyed good intellectual debate, so it is only natural that I seek out friendships with those of opposing points of view. Personally I think that is healthy and for certain it broadens my perspective on life.
So now that I am in politics, does that mean I have to shun friendships with people who may be politically incorrect? I was even told by someone in the Party structure to “be careful” who I associated with and what appearances I made because as a candidate I represented “the Party”.
I am running for political office to represent the people of the District. I am also a conservative and I make no apologies for my ideals and values. Yet I wish to serve ALL of the citizens of the District, not just those who might agree with me (or I with them) 100%. We are people, and people are simply not going to see things exactly the same (that is called diversity). And I think that is a good thing. The only thing I ask of everyone I may call friend is to recognize that our Declaration of Independence and Constitution apply to all of our citizens. We each enjoy as human beings certain “God given” unalienable rights, and since they are given by God, no human being has the right to deny them to another (not even the government). If we can agree on that, then I’ll be happy to shake your hand in friendship.
It just seems that whether it is someone’s friends (as with Farley) or who someone’s daughter may be kissing (as with Corker), such criticism seems common these days. Some great public interest concerns like Ford calling the Republican candidates the “three stooges” (personally I thought the comment was funny and applicable the way they are acting). And of course some want to make issue of Ford’s suits (give me a break). So gang, what are your ideas for making government better for the people you wish to serve? Or could it be that all this other nonsense is because you don’t have anything of value to bring to the table so taking cheap shots with non-issues give you something to say?

As Christians we no longer have rights or representation in this country. Does anyone remember the saying "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"? Because in the article below one atheist is causing all of this problem. ONE PERSON! This is not just happening here, but all around the country. One or two people are offended by Christian symbols or prayer or any number of items associated with Christianity and Christians are forced to remove or stop them. Christians do not deny anyone their rights, but we are denied our rights daily. Every other religion is free to practice how they wish, but we as Christians are not.

We have become so weak that we tolerate these assaults upon us. We will not stand against them and fight for what we believe. Does anyone think God and Jesus will appreciate us not standing up and declaring our love for them?

We hear religious tolerance everyday, but Christians are the only ones that are tolerant. We welcome all religions and people, but they do none of this for us. Why is it that we are not well tolerated? I also hear about the separation of church and state, but I have failed to find it in the Constitution or any other of our founding documents. There is no such animal. The 1st Amendment give us freedom of religion and no state sponsored religion. Does this mean that the state cannot recognize or display items? No it just means that we are not forced to worship how the state wants us to worship. It does not mean we cannot display meaningful religious symbols on government property. It does not mean there cannot be prayer in School. It does not mean we have to take "In God We Trust" off of our money or "One Nation Under God" from the pledge. The Constitution clearly states that this is a nation of God, but all are free to practice their respective religions.

Please read the post below this one and tell me how you feel about it. Yes I said feel.

WASHINGTON (July 3) - The Supreme Court intervened Monday to stop, at least for now, the removal of a large cross from city property in southern California.
A lower court judge had ordered the city of San Diego to remove the cross or be fined $5,000 a day.
Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, acting for the high court, issued a stay while supporters of the cross continue their legal fight.
Lawyers for San Diegans for the Mount Soledad National War Memorial said in an appeal that they wanted to avoid the "destruction of this national treasure." And attorneys for the city said the cross was part of a broader memorial that was important to the community.
The 29-foot cross, on San Diego property, sits atop Mount Soledad. A judge declared the cross, a symbol of Christianity, was an unconstitutional endorsement of one religion over another.
The cross, which has been in place for decades, was contested by Philip Paulson, a Vietnam veteran and atheist.

Three years ago, the Supreme Court had refused to get involved in the long-running dispute between Paulson and the city.
Kennedy granted the stay to the city and the cross' supporters without comment pending a further order from him or the entire court. It was unclear Monday how long the stay will remain in effect or whether the Supreme Court would ultimately deny the appeals by the city and the cross' supporters.
In its most recent case involving religious symbols, the Supreme Court ruled last year in a pair of 5-4 decisions that overtly religious displays are unconstitutional, but historic ones are allowed.
The court, then led by Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, struck down framed copies of the Ten Commandments in two Kentucky courthouses while upholding a 6-foot granite monument on the grounds of the Texas Capitol.
The only religious case to come before the court under Chief Justice John Roberts involved the use of hallucinogenic tea by a small branch of a South American religious sect. The court unanimously ruled that the government cannot hinder religious practices without proof of a "compelling" need to do so.
In San Diego, the Mount Soledad cross was dedicated in 1954 as a memorial to Korean War veterans, and a private association maintains a veterans memorial on the land surrounding it.
Mayor Jerry Sanders has argued that the cross, sitting atop Mount Soledad in La Jolla, is an integral part of the memorial and deserves the same exemptions to government-maintained religious symbols as those granted to other war monuments.
In May, U.S. District Court Judge Gordon Thompson Jr., ordered the city to take down the 29-foot cross before Aug. 2 or pay daily fines of $5,000.
Thompson's ruling, which he described as "long overdue," found the cross to be an unconstitutional display of government preference of one religion over another.
Last year, San Diego voters overwhelmingly approved a ballot proposition to transfer the land beneath the cross to the federal government. The measure was designed to absolve the city of responsibility for the cross under the existing lawsuit. But a California Superior Court judge found the proposition to be unconstitutional.

How About A State Candidate Boxing Match?

OK it is late at night and I am out of my mind, but in the tradition of Willie Herenton let's have all the candidates get together for a boxing match. Just think of the money that could be raised for charity and you could see some of the candidates you don't like get beat up. You could also possibly see the ones you do like get beat up, but such is life.

I am sitting here thinking that this post could possibly put me in the nut house and some of my detractors will have a field day with this one. It could also be that I am sitting here not thinking and that is why this post is being typed. I guess we will find out how everyone is going to react by tomorrow.

It Has Begun And Some Is To Come

Well, I have seen the first attack on my campaign today. Some mental giant decided to knock over my signs on Summer Avenue. This is on top of the four signs in nearby locations that have been stolen. I guess we expected some of this, but it still doesn't make you happy when it happens.

I have also been informed that more attacks are coming shortly after July 4. Mark this on your calendars so we can see how good my source is. This person actually gets specific on the date. My source says it will happen on July 6. We will see what comes out. I always say that when folks can't beat you on the issues they will try and discredit you.

I am not blaming either of my opponents for anything that has happened or will happen. I am hoping for a clean race and I believe one of my opponents will remain a gentleman throughout the race. I am not sure how the other will act considering I have already been warned that he has said he will do anything to win, but I am reserving judgment until later. All I want is for anyone that doesn't agree with me to debate me. If you can use facts to dispute anything I am campaigning on then I will be the first to admit it, but don't fabricate garbage because you can't stand and defeat me on the issues.

Congress Votes To Raise Pay

Does anyone not see a problem with this? What have they done to deserve a raise? Has the national debt been lowered? Have the illegal aliens stopped flooding into the country? Can I carry my pistol in every state in this country without being harassed by the police? I know I ask a lot of questions in my posts, but I want people to think. We all know the answer to these questions is no, but we still allow our elected officials to raise their salaries without providing results.

Our lawmakers know what the salary is before they are elected and if they do not like the pay they need to apply for another job. The Congress works for the citizens of the United States of America and therefore as their bosses we need to vote on whether or not they have done a good enough job to deserve a raise. Some would whine that the people would never vote them a pay raise and that wouldn't be fair. I do not agree with that and would be more than happy to provide a raise when they provide me with more service than they are paid for now. YOU DO NOT GET A RAISE JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT ONE! You have to earn what you get and that goes for everyone.

I do not know of a bill that has been introduced that would require a vote on elected official pay raises and I would like to introduce a bill that would accomplish this when I am elected to the state house. Please let me know your thoughts on this one. I always welcome feedback whether it is positive or negative and it is always appreciated.

Amnesty For Illegals And Logical Thought

We all hear about the negative affects that tossing illegals out of the country will have on the economy. We hear about how they do jobs that Americans do not want to do. We hear how the illegals will work for a lower wage than Americans as well. Now when we throw amnesty in there the whole game changes. When you allow amnesty and a program for obtaining citizenship what have you done? You have now made these formerly illegal aliens, citizens or working on the path to obtain citizenship. Now that they are on this path, they and those that employ them are subject to the employment laws of the United States. What have we done now? We have effectively taken this low wage, work any job group and turned them into legal workers that will now require a wage equivalent to regular American workers. The companies that paid them a low wage and no taxes as illegals will have to start paying taxes and benefits for these now legal workers. These illegal workers will now be legal and will be able to come after the jobs of all Americans. Where is the benefit in this?

I can see nothing but negatives arising from amnesty. Why reward those breaking the laws and force our citizens to suffer? Can anyone explain the logic behind this? I know that no one can make a logical argument for amnesty. Our elected officials are pandering to the illegals because they see them as a new voting block. They also see the huge influx of illegals as another stepping stone to globalization. They are saying to us that the American voter and US sovereignty means nothing as long as they are kept in power and we as an apathetic voting public allow this to continue.

Contact your congressman, senators and every other elected official and be heard. Vote those that will not fight illegal immigration out of office. Support those that will fight illegal immigration. It is our duty as citizens of this nation to make a stand. Stand now because it may be too late to stand later.

This is to inform you that Margaret Mae Farmer passed on to be with the Lord on May 23, 2006 at 3:55 pm at 68 years of age. She passed at the home of her daughter in Memphis, Tennessee surrounded by those she loved. She is survived by her son, John Farmer, three daughters, Sheila Griffith, Wanda Farmer and Roberta Gonzalez, grandchildren John and Jamie Griffith, Mark Phillips, Miranda and Jhones Gonzalez, Christopher, Haley, and Stefan Farmer.

She is to be buried at Brocks Cemetery in Greenfield, Tennessee where her second child, William Dean Farmer is also buried. There will be a private graveside service for family to honor her passing.

Is There Really Freedom Of Speech?

After seeing what happened with the Minuteman Caravan today I don't think that Freedom of Speech is alive and kicking. Where in the US Constitution does it say you can peacefully assemble, but you have to have a permit? The 10th Amendment allows for states rights, but it also says that items not prohibited by the Constitution or given federal government are delegated to the states. Permitting rallies is a prohibition on free speech and is not allowed under the Constitution, but we allow it to happen daily. You can not license a freedom! Our state legislature even said you cannot license freedoms and used the Freedom of Speech as an example of a freedom. This being said how is it that cities can permit Freedom of Speech? Doesn't make sense to me either. More to come later.

Thanks To Everyone That Ran In The May Primary

I would just like to tip my hat to all of those that ran in the May Primary. I may not agree with everyone, but I can respect them for making the decision to run for public office. You can't truly appreciate the difficulties of a campaign until you have worked on one. I hope that those that were defeated will keep their heads high and know that even though they lost they still made a difference. I am also glad to see that Henri Brooks will be on the County Commission and not the State House. The County Commission holding a Republican majority can keep Ms. Brooks from destroying more of our freedoms and it is one less ally for Naifeh.

The people have spoken and we have who we have chosen. I am glad to see that there was no real controversy during this primary. I think most everyone behaved well and no dead voters cast their ballots. I doubt I will be able to say that of the August Primary which is just three short months away.

Get ready for the ugliness in August. Sounds like the title of some wrestling event. I know that the mud slinging will soon commence and my race will have no shortage of it. I will not be participating in the mud slinging in any campaign so if you hear of anything coming from my direction please let me know so I can put a stop to it. I will run on my strengths and not the shortcomings of others. I know that my involvement in the fight against illegal immigration and my pro-gun stance will place me above the others campaigning for the same office. I will continue to be dedicated to fighting for our rights in the TN State House of Representatives.

Pray For John Farmer

I just learned that John Farmer had been hospitalized with heart problems. He is now out of the hospital and I do not believe that his problems are life threatening. The report says he could be taking medicine for this heart condition for the rest of his life so please everyone say a prayer for John.

I have only known him for a short while, but I have a great respect for him. He is a man that stands firm on what he believes and doesn't waver. He is a kind, caring and faithful individual with a warming demeanor I could only wish to have. I doubt anyone has ever talked to him that didn't feel better for doing so. I also see where he is no longer seeking the 8 Congressional District nomination. I can respect his decision for deciding to pull back from that race. We all should realize it is God, family and the republic in that order. He has his house to worry with and that is more important than anything, but service to God.

I am disappointed in the Tulsa World's one-sided coverage of the immigration debate. I have yet to see stories on people like myself who have owned successful businesses and are being put out of business by illegal immigrants.
Many think that, as a masonry contractor, I would be able to take advantage of the cheap labor pool. The only problem is that when a Hispanic approaches me wanting to work his first question is "you pay cash?" When they find out I will hold taxes and make them prove their citizenship they want nothing to do with working the legal way. Now so many illegal immigrants are in the masonry business they have their own companies and work far cheaper than I do because, as they brag, "we pay no taxes."
I started Sissom Masonry Design when I was 20, about 4 1/2 years ago, and today my profit margin is less than half what it was when I started. I have let all my employees -- most of whom have no other skills -- know that this will be my last year in the construction industry.
It is sad to see all the coverage and praise for immigrants who come here and use food and housing assistance when they have no legal right to it. Also, for all the rallies going on at the capital for amnesty, possibly I am mistaken but the right to assemble is an inalienable right granted to U.S. citizens, not illegal aliens.
What has this country come to, turning its back on people who have paid taxes their entire life, then give away things such as Medicare and Social Security to people who are not citizens? This would be a more compelling story than trying to play to the emotions of readers and painting the immigrants as poor, innocent people just wanting a better life. Everyone wants a better life, but the country should take care of the people who built it before giving it away to people who are only here to exploit it.

Will there be rioting, looting, murder and mayhem? Will the United States fall to its knees as these illegal aliens boycott businesses and their jobs? Will it be the end of civilization as we know it? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Monday will be business as usual in this country with little interruption. There may be some problems in California since it is occupied territory, but the nation as a whole will remain stable. The reason everything will be fine is that the illegals that they are wanting to boycott jobs and businesses will be working. The only ones that will be trouble makers are the ones that are living off the government and have the time to cause trouble. It will be the usual suspects such as La Raza, Mecha and the ACLU that will be making the trouble not the everyday illegal alien that is here for a job. I never said they were bad people or not hard workers, I just say that illegal is illegal. Immigrate legally and you have my full support.

The Good Stuff Just Keeps On Coming

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Senate voted Wednesday to crack down on undocumented immigration, giving the Highway Patrol new enforcement authority and punishing contractors who hire undocumented workers on public projects.
The measure passed on a 29-3 vote with significant bipartisan support. The bill, which now can go to the House, represents the toughest set of restrictions on undocumented immigration lawmakers have approved so far.
It also plunged Missouri lawmakers deeply into the explosive debate on immigration reform.
Sen. Bill Alter, a High Ridge Republican, said he was spurred to propose the bill in part after a number of undocumented workers were arrested on a taxpayer-subsidized housing project in O’Fallon.
“Illegal immigrants in this state are taking jobs that should go to Missourians,” said Alter, who added that undocumented immigrants are a drain on the state’s social services and education system.
“This has nothing to do with the fact that they (undocumented immigrants) are good people,” he said.
Under the bill, the Missouri Highway Patrol would undergo training from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on federal immigration laws. The bill also allows all police officers to “investigate, apprehend, or detain” undocumented immigrants and transport them to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, across state lines if necessary.
Officials at local jails would be required to try to verify that inmates charged with felonies are citizens or lawful U.S. residents. If residence cannot be verified, local jails would have to notify the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The bill also would bar undocumented immigrants from attending public universities in Missouri. The House already has passed a measure that contains a similar prohibition.
At the urging of Democrats, Alter deleted language that would have prevented undocumented immigrants from receiving certain state services such as literacy programs, after-school tutoring, vocational education and the Parents as Teachers program.
Alter also agreed to language from Sen. Tim Green, a St. Louis Democrat, that penalizes contractors who hire undocumented workers on taxpayer-funded projects. Any employer on a public project found to knowingly use undocumented workers would be banned from working on any public contracts for three years.
Still, three Democrats, including Sen. Joan Bray, of St. Louis County, voted against the bill.
“I am not very comfortable with making our Highway Patrol and local law enforcement immigration officers,” said Bray, who described the bill as “anti-immigrant.”
She said that while the bill addressed contractors on public projects, it failed to impose sanctions on other employers who hire undocumented workers. Instead, the bill is mainly tough on undocumented workers, she said.
Cris Medina, executive director of Guadalupe Centers Inc. in Kansas City, decried the legislation as “political grandstanding.”
“It is certainly immigrant-bashing, and it gives an undue responsibility to local law enforcement,” said Medina, whose nonprofit group provides social services to the Latino community.
Alter said he expects the bill, SB 1250, to get a House committee hearing next week.
Also Wednesday, the House gave initial approval to legislation that would make English the language of official proceedings such as meetings of public bodies and court hearings.
Rep. Brian Nieves said many citizens are concerned about the possibility that official proceedings could be conducted in other languages, making them difficult if not impossible to understand. State law does not spell out in which languages such proceedings must be discussed.
“We’re standing on the sovereign ground of the United States, and call me crazy, but it seems logical to me that here in the United States of America that the official proceedings would be in English,” said Nieves, a Republican from Washington.

Where is this immigrant bashing? Since when are these people immigrants? They would have to immigrate to this country legally to be considered immigrants, but they have not done so. They are here illegally and should be referred to as illegal aliens. I don't deny anyone the right to a better life, but there are legal stipulations to coming to this country. Are we a country that shouldn't enforce its laws? Also in the above story I see complaints about giving undue responsibility to local law enforcement. The last time I checked law enforcement meant enforcing laws. What other category would illegally working in this country fall under? Illegal means not lawful so therefore law enforcement handles enforcement of the laws. So simple, but some make it so difficult. I also question why we should conduct any official business in any language other than English. English is the national language of this country and all official paperwork should be in English only. We don't live in a border state and MO is not a border state either. I can understand some items in English and Spanish because of the tourism across both borders, but other than that ENGLISH ONLY please.

A Big Win For States Rights (I Wonder If We Can Get Sheriff Luttrell In On This)

May Be Time to Get to Know Your Sheriff!

County sheriffs in Wyoming have scored a big one for the 10th Amendment and states rights. The sheriffs slapped federal intrusion upside the head and are insisting that all federal law enforcement officers and personnel from federal regulatory agencies must clear all their activities in a Wyoming county with the Sheriff's Office. Deja vu for those who remember big Richard Mack in Arizona.

Bighorn County Sheriff Dave Mattis spoke at a press conference following the recent U.S. District Court decision (Case No. 2:96-cv-099-J) and announced that all federal officials are forbidden to enter his county without his prior approval. "If a sheriff doesn't want the Feds in his county he has the constitutional power and right to keep them out or ask them to leave or retain them in custody."

The court decision was the result of a suit against both the BATF and the IRS by Mattis and other members of the Wyoming Sheriffs' Association. The suit in the Wyoming federal court district sought restoration of the protections enshrined in the United States Constitution and the Wyoming Constitution.

Guess what? The District Court ruled in favor of the sheriffs. In fact, they stated, "Wyoming is a sovereign state and the duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official within a county and has law enforcement powers exceeding that of any other state or federal official." Go back and re-read that quote. The court confirms and asserts, "the duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official within a county and has law enforcement powers EXCEEDING that of any other state OR federal official." And you thought the 10th Amendment was dead and buried -- not in Wyoming, not yet.

But it gets even better. Since the judge states the sheriff"has law enforcement powers EXCEEDING that of any other state OR federal official," the Wyoming sheriffs are flexing their muscles. They are demanding access to all BATF files. Why? So as to verify the agency is not violating provisions of Wyoming law that prohibits the registration of firearms or the keeping of a registry of firearm owners. See, that would be wrong. The sheriffs are also demanding that federal agencies immediately cease the seizure of private property and the impoundment of private bank accounts without regard to due process in state courts.

Gosh, it kinda makes you wish the sheriffs of whatever counties have Waco, Texas, and Oklahoma City in their jurisdictions were drinking the same water these Wyoming sheriffs are.

Sheriff Mattis said, "I am reacting to the actions of federal employees who have attempted to deprive citizens of my county of their privacy, their liberty, and their property without regard to constitutional safeguards. I hope that more sheriffs all across America will join us in protecting their citizens from the illegal activities of the IRS, EPA, BATF, FBI, or any other federal agency that is operating outside the confines of constitutional law. Employees of the IRS and the EPA are no longer welcome in Bighorn County unless they intend to operate in conformance to constitutional law." Amen.

However, the sad reality is that sheriffs are elected, and that means they are required to be both law enforcement managers and politicians. Unfortunately, Wyoming sheriffs are the exception rather than the rule ... but they shouldn't be. Sheriffs have enormous power, if or when they choose to use it. I share the hope of Sheriff Mattis that "more sheriffs all across America will join us in protecting their citizens. ..."

If Wyoming Sheriffs can follow in the steps of former Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack and both recognize their power and authority, they could become champions for the memory of Thomas Jefferson who died "thinking" he had won those states' rights debates with Alexander Hamilton.

This case is not some amusing mountain melodrama. This is a BIG deal. It is yet further evidence that the 10th Amendment is not yet totally dead, atrophied, or in complete decay in the United States. It is also significant in that it can/may, and hopefully will be interpreted to mean that "political subdivisions of a State are included within the meaning of the amendment, or that the powers exercised by a sheriff are an extension of those common law powers which the Tenth Amendment explicitly reserves to the People, if they are not granted to the federal government and specifically prohibited to the States."

Winston Churchill observed, "If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

Abolish FEMA (Only If It Stays That Way)

I see where a Senate panel wants to abolish FEMA and rebuild from the ground up. Abolishing FEMA sounds like a good idea, but I think I would just leave it abolished. There are crudely erected signs that say things like FEMA where are you and FEMA is too busy to help posted in LA and MS. I look at the photos of these signs and wonder if these people tried to help themselves. I wonder if they asked their neighbor, friends, family, church, civic club or others to help. Where is their state government during this? What about asking your mayor, governor, representatives, senators and other elected officials of the state for help?

I am not being cruel or uncaring. I am simply asking whether you go straight to FEMA or if you start locally and go up. I think I would start locally and ask for help. Then if the local officials couldn't do anything I would go to the state and finally federal. We have to learn how things work in this country. We need to keep the federal government out of our state affairs as much as possible. We need to quit relying so heavily on the federal government and let our state governments do what they were intended to do. It is state government's job to attend to the needs of the citizens of that state. Our federal government's job is to attend to national needs. I am also not saying that we cannot ask for federal assistance in a major crisis such as Katrina, but let them be the last ones called for assistance.

Take a few minutes and look at the huge groups that tried to come to the aid of Katrina victims. How much fraud and abuse came out of the Red Cross during this ordeal? Then take a look at FEMA and how their top man had to resign because of FEMA's inability to act during Katrina. There is too much bureaucracy in these organizations to allow them to effectively manage situations such as these.

Now take a look at the numerous church groups and other organizations that have gone down to the coast on a weekly basis. These groups have gone in and moved debris, cleaned out houses, helped rebuild and sheltered people. They did this only with donations and volunteered time. There were no millions and billions of tax payer dollars that had to be funneled through fifty bazillion offices with each taking a cut before it sees the end user. People from all over the country volunteered their time, went to the coast and accomplished something. People make this country work not government. We as citizens have to take responsibility for ourselves first. When we have exhausted all of our means then we go to government for help.

We can do more for each other than our government ever could. Our Founding Fathers believed less government was the best government. Let's start small and work our way up. I will help you and you can help me then we can help others. I guess you could call it grassroots citizenship.

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (April 25) - President Bush, under pressure to do something about gasoline prices that are expected to stay high through the summer, has ordered an investigation into possible cheating in the markets.

Clint Karlsen/APPresident Bush has said consistently that gas prices are high because global demand is rising faster than global supply and that the problem cannot be solved overnight. During the last few days, Bush asked his Energy and Justice departments to open inquiries into whether the price of gasoline has been illegally manipulated, said White House press secretary Scott McClellan. Bush planned to announce the action Tuesday during a speech in Washington.
It's unclear what impact, if any, Bush's investigation would have on prices that are near $3 a gallon. Asked if Bush had any reason to suspect market manipulation, McClellan responded, "Well, gas prices are high right now, and that's why you want to make sure there's not."
Republicans who control Congress have become concerned that the high cost of filling up could become a problem for them in the November elections. Polls suggest that voters favor Democrats over Republicans on the issue, and Bush gets low marks for handling gasoline prices.
House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., urged Bush in a letter Monday to order a federal investigation into any gasoline price gouging or market speculation. McClellan said Bush had already done so, but had not revealed it publicly.
"We share a commitment with congressional leaders to make sure that we're acting to ensure that there is no price gouging," McClellan said.
Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada dispatched his own letter, calling for a multi-pronged approach to restrain gas prices. Among the steps were swift enactment of anti-price gouging legislation, an appeal to oil companies to refrain from further price increases, use of more alternative fuels and increased attention to existing fuel-saving laws and regulations.
Bush also planned to announce that his attorney general and Federal Trade Commission will send a letter to all 50 state attorneys general, who have primary authority over price gouging, to remind them to stay on top of the issue and offer federal help to do so. And he planned to call on energy companies to reinvest their profits into expanding refining capacity, developing new technologies and researching alternative energy sources, McClellan said.
"I think you'll hear the president say very clearly that he will not tolerate price gouging," McClellan said.
Bush has said consistently that gas prices are high because global demand is rising faster than global supply and that the problem cannot be solved overnight. McClellan said Bush planned to talk about how experts predict the price will increase this summer and how the switch to a summer fuel mix is contributing to the problem.
Bush's actions are part of a four-part plan to address gas prices in the short- and long-term, McClellan said. The steps are:
· Making sure consumers and taxpayers are treated fairly.
· Promoting greater fuel efficiency.
· Boosting gasoline supply at home.
· Aggressive long-term investment in alternative fuels.

What Do We Do About The Price Of Gasoline?

Seeing the latest headlines of oil surging to over $75 per barrel I wonder just where will it end. The experts say that the price we are paying for gas now is the price we shouldn't be paying until oil is $120 per barrel. While this is happening a certain oil company Exxon Mobil is raking in record profits. Seems to me one thing is going on and that is price gouging. What can we do to counteract this? As individuals we cannot do a whole lot. You can choose not to purchase your gas at Exxon, but it will take hundreds of thousands of people not buying gas there to make them wake-up. Big oil companies know they have us cornered. Our society is dependent upon oil and huge quantities of it.

The United States uses more oil than any nation on the planet. We consume 20 million barrels per day (2004) vs. 6.5 million barrels per day in China, the number two user of oil. Only 45% of our oil consumption is from automotive gasoline. This number surprised me as I thought it would have been higher. It also surprises me to see that we use 3 times as much oil as China, a country roughly 3 times larger in population than ours. What is the difference? I know China has the industry that we do since they make everything we have anyway. Are they more efficient than us? Do they drive less than we do? I don't know anything other than they use less oil than we do and this is amazing.

The rising cost of gasoline is going to have a negative affect on me this summer. Unless the price drops I don't know if I will be making a trip that I had planned in early June. I wonder how many other families will not be spreading their tourism dollars around because of the cost of gas. This is not good for our economy. Most every state depends on a certain amount of tourism and states like Florida rely heavily on tourism.

I know we don't have a solution to the oil problem and I worry that we won't have a solution before it becomes a major issue. I am making a call to all of you brilliant folks (John Farmer) to come up with something that we can substitute for gas. We have too many vehicles on the road to just throw away. We need a solution that will run in the vehicles in production today. Grease cars are a healthy alternative, but we would need to bring in more diesels. If you don't know diesel was originally intended to run on cooking oil and not a petroleum fuel. We also have ethanol, but it has to be used with regular gas and gets less miles per gallon than gas. We have Aquadyn which helps solve our pollution problem, but still relies on diesel. Hydrogen, electricity and air require a different power plant. We could simply go to smaller engine diesel cars that are readily available in Europe. Their gas prices are outrageous, but they make due by driving more efficient vehicles. I am not sure of what to do, but we have to start somewhere.

Try several things to loosen up the grip oil has on us. Carpool to work if possible. Purchase a smaller more efficient car or a diesel. Keep your oil changed, tires properly inflated, filters changed and your engine properly tuned. Purchase a motorcycle or scooter. Ride your bicycle to work if possible. Take the expressway vs. surface roads to avoid stop and go traffic. These are just a few solutions, but there are many more. Do a little research and we can hit big oil where it hurts, the pocketbook.

Georgia Governor Signs Strict Immigration Bill

ATLANTA - Georgia's governor signed a sweeping immigration bill Monday that supporters and critics say gives the state some of the toughest measures against illegal immigrants in the nation."I want to make this clear: we are not, Georgia's government is not, and this bill is not, anti-immigrant," Gov. Sunny Perdue said at the signing. "We simply believe that everyone who lives in our state needs to abide by our laws." The law requires verification that adults seeking many state-administered benefits are in the country legally. It sanctions employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants and mandates that companies with state contracts check the immigration status of employees. The law also requires police to check the immigration status of people they arrest. The measure is believed to be the first comprehensive immigration package to make it through a statehouse this session, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Many of the new law's provisions will not take effect until July 1, 2007. The bill drew protests at Georgia's state Capitol and prompted a daylong work stoppage by thousands of immigrants. Tisha Tallman, regional counsel for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, said she was studying potential legal challenges to the bill. The new law will not affect emergency medical care and educational benefits for those in kindergarten through 12th grade, which federal courts have said must be provided regardless of immigration status. Exemptions were also added for some other services like prenatal care and the treatment of communicable diseases. The move to tighten rules in Georgia comes as lawmakers in Washington wrestle with competing proposals to shore up controls at the border, create a guest worker program and create a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the United States. Outside the Capitol on Monday, a few hundred supporters of the legislation applauded loudly when word came that Perdue was signing the proposal. The crowd waved American flags and cheered as state Rep. Melvin Everson, one of the Georgia House's two black Republicans, denounced illegal immigration as a cancer and proclaimed: "The last time I checked, America was the land of English — not Spanish." And they hollered as Republican state Sen. Chip Rogers, the bill's author, called it "the strongest single bill in America dealing with illegal immigration — bar none." At the bill signing, Rogers said he has been approached by lawmakers from South Carolina and Colorado who were interested in crafting similar proposals for their states.

Mexico To Boycott US Firms South Of The Border.

I just finished reading an article about Mexicans and their government boycotting US firms in their country on May 1 because of the recent immigration battles in OUR government. Thanks for reporting this piece, it was important. Now we are going to get into some real problems with this one.

The first problem will be that now businesses like Coke, McDonald's, Starbucks and Pepsi will be wearing out all forms of communication to our government and requesting that they fix this issue. The Mexicans are smart and they know where to hit our politicians. Big groups like the ones previously mentioned have BIG lobbies and these lobbies donate heavily to our politicians and their campaigns. Now where does this leave the average citizen? Well, it leaves us out in the cold. If our elected officials don't have money then they can't get elected. If they can't get elected then they can't live the lifestyle they are accustom to. If all of this happens then they get scared and now vote with their wallet and not their brain. Big business will win out every single time.

Problem number two is that these boycotts are being sponsored by the Mexican government. Here we are with almost 20 million Mexican Nationals in our country illegally and their government is threatening us. They tell US citizens not to drive in their country because any little violation will land you in jail, but they promote criminal activity in our country and we tolerate it. We send billions of dollars in business to Mexico and let our corporations employ millions of their citizens and here they are boycotting us.

Problem three is that our government will bow down to pressure from them instead of bringing up the issues I pointed out in problem number two. We will let a third world country dictate what happens in our borders. Our government will bend to the will of a foreign nation instead of defending its laws and its citizens. I do not find this acceptable. We have the power to do what is necessary, but we don't have the will. Our government can protect American interests wherever they may be. Our government can suspend all trade with Mexico and force them to do as we wish, but they won't. Just watch for a minute and see where their sympathies are. Will it be with its citizens or with a foreign nation?

When our government and its elected officials show who it is they support we will be able to show just who it is we support in November. We have the power to control this nation at the ballot box. Take the time and do your duty as a United States Citizen. Vote in every primary and general election and let them know who you are.

Recent Headlines. What Do We Really Think Is Important?

After looking at a few headlines that have appeared in print, television and the Internet over the last few days I find myself thoroughly disgusted at the media in general. There is no information on truly important issues. What are we not being told? Why are we not being told? Do we really care anyway?

I don't know the answer to the questions I just presented. I wish that I did know the answers, but I do know that we are kept in the dark like children. Entertainment is the main outlet and the generator of what is supposed to be important in this country. When you read some of these headlines I hope that you will begin to question the media. I also hope that you will contact the media and request that they more thoroughly inform you on immigration, trade, taxes, oil, the UN, agriculture, alternative fuels and a host of other information that will affect your life. Who wins or loses on American Idol really doesn't mean anything at the end of the day.

This is what I believe is causing a lot of the problems we have today. People care more about who is on TV tonight than how big the trade deficit with China is. I don't blame this on the people of the country as much as on the news we get on a daily basis. We as citizens are forced to educate ourselves because our news media is refusing to do it. All is not well in this country and we need to know why. You have only heard about the huge numbers of immigrants protesting and saying they are not criminals, but you haven't heard about the almost 40 billion in debt California has incurred on their behalf. You haven't heard about the 19 hospitals in the Los Angeles area alone that have been shut down due to non-payment by these illegal immigrants that only want a better life. You don't hear about the 1000 people murdered each year by these illegal aliens. You don't hear about the almost 11 billion dollar trade deficit we have with India or the even larger one with China. You don't hear about how the World Trade Organization has sided against US businesses 85% of the time. You don't hear about the 1 million jobs lost to NAFTA or the 20,000 lost in Tennessee alone. When you call tech support for some huge companies like Dell, AOL and Compaq you get someone from Sri Lanka or India to help you not a US citizen. You don't hear how these same companies have gotten millions or even billions in tax breaks in this country only to promote employment out of this country.

When is it that we will wake up and do something? When will we become intolerant of what is happening to the people of this country? When will we ask that our news outlets inform instead of entertain us? I know I ask a lot of questions and don't provide the answers, but I cannot answer for the American public. I can give you what information I have and hope that you will research it for yourself.

Let The Racism Begin

The District 9 Congressional Race is gearing up to be a doozy. I am speaking of the Democratic Primary for this office and not the Republican Primary. There could possibly be more candidates than there are voters for this race and the MAIN issue has been color thus far. Yes, that's right, race is one of the main issues in this race. Some black leaders are steamed that the huge number of black candidates in the primary may cancel out the black vote and white, Jewish, candidate Steve Cohen could win the primary.

Reverend LaSimba Gray stated "All that we have fought for all of these years.... we could end up losing it this year." "It may well be that, African Americans will be without representation in the U. S. Congress from West Tennessee." Rev. Gray also stated since Cohen was Jewish that if there was an election with a Jewish candidate Cohen would favor the Jew since Gray stated he (Gray) would rather have a black candidate. Is this true? Will the African Americans be without representation in West TN if a white fellow wins? The simple answer to this one is no. The blacks will have the same representation from Steve Cohen that they had from Harold Ford Jr. They may even have better representation since Steve Cohen will not do anything to offend the black voters.

This is senseless and shouldn't even be debated. Liberals are liberals no matter what color they are. Cohen is just as liberal as Jr., Gray, Kirk, Sr., Bolton, Halbert or any other black official in this community. That is the thing with liberals, you get one liberal you have all liberals. This also goes to show that there is no boundary to racism. Black leaders such as Gray do not want fair representation they only want black representation. Something to think about the next time the comments start flying.

A Memphis City Manager in charge of Sign laws spoke to me today.
After 10 signs are picked up of any candidate, the candidate will be charged $50.00 per sign picked up after that and taken to court.

Signs in residential yards - must be on house side of the sidewalk.
If there are no sidewalks it must be behind telephone pole line, this goes for anywhere in Memphis there is no sidewalk.

Please tell your volunteers to be careful, our candidates cannot afford these fines.

Did Bob Davis treat Carl like trash and tell him he wasn't welcome or did Carl take himself out of the race because of Bryson? Did Carl feel he could do more as an independent and take himself out of the Republican Primary? WHAT HAPPENED?

I feel that more than likely it was a split agreed to by both the state party and Two Feathers. I had knowledge of Carl desiring to be an independent about a month ago. As some may know Carl Whitaker was an independent candidate in 2002, as was I and had declared independent at the start of this race. I am not impugning Carl's integrity or suggesting that there were any shady deals going on. I just think that this ordeal is a little more simple than what everyone is making it out to be. I don't think that either party has a larger share in the blame or that there is a reason to blame anyone. Carl has a choice to run under whatever banner he chooses and I support that choice. This issue will be long forgotten by the time August rolls around so let's just move forward with what we have.

Who Do They Represent?

Well, it seems that our senate will tell 80% of us that we don't matter. Yes folks, the news reports tell us that the Senate will pass amnesty legislation for the 50 bazillion illegal aliens in our country. Is amnesty in the best interest of the United States citizens? A quick NO will answer that question. The numbers show that the huge number of illegal aliens in this country are a burden on the taxpayers.

The passage of amnesty legislation will mean a major decrease in wages for everyone. American citizens will have to take pay cuts so that they can compete with the illegal aliens. Don't buy this trash about the illegals only working the jobs Americans do not want. They work any and every type of job. I have seen electricians, mechanics, flooring installers and many more put out of work by the illegal aliens. Our government is making it impossible for its citizens to compete.

These aliens do not want to be United States citizens. They only see America as a great cash cow. Several men will leave their homes in Mexico and rent a small apartment here. Twenty and sometimes more will pile into a two bedroom apartment. Some even bring their families with small children to live in these deplorable conditions. These are not the living conditions of a civilized nation. This is how they live in third world countries. If I wanted to live in a third world country I would damn well move to one. I choose to live here and I want our standards upheld.

I am angered by our legislators' support of these illegal aliens. What's next, releasing all of the rapists, murders and child molesters back into society? Laws are laws or they would be called suggestions. I want the illegal aliens out of the country. I will welcome them back into the country under the current rules we have. Let them earn their citizenship as millions before them have.

Call your legislators and let them know where you stand. Well, don't call them if you support amnesty. Let's just keep that between us.

GOP Approval Ratings Hit New Low

Why is it that the GOP approval ratings have hit a new low? How can you have this when both the Senate and House are controlled by the GOP? I think I know the answer to these questions. Some will agree and some will not, but I didn't ask anyone's opinion so here we go with mine.

The reason behind the low numbers is the extreme growth of the government over the last few years. When you elect conservatives you are desiring smaller government and we have seen the opposite. The budget is out of hand and there is no end in sight for the War in Iraq. Eighty percent of the population have asked for closed borders, but they remain open. The knee jerk reaction we now call the Patriot Act has cost us dearly in the freedoms department. This has all come while we have had GOP control of the House, Senate and Presidency. Do I think it is the fault of the party? No, I think we can all blame voter or constituent apathy.

I have seen a change in the Shelby County party. In the last two years there have been some big changes in the Republican Party and people that have held office. I know that there is hope, but only if people get off the couch and do some work. The first step in the right direction was Bill Giannini becoming the Shelby County GOP Chairman. I cannot say enough good things about Bill. He does an excellent job and I will continue to support him.

There are other things on the horizon as well. The formation of the Shelby County Conservative Republican Club was a blessing to me. I now have a club that I can call home. I have enjoyed every SCCRC meeting I have attended. There is never a dull moment with that crowd. I must also admit that I haven't spent much, if any time at the other clubs so I am not shooting them down I am just stating my satisfaction with the SCCRC.

Numerous Republican held positions are opening this year. Tre Hargett, Bubba Pleasants, Paul Stanley and Curtis Person are but a few that will be leaving their current positions this year. This opens the door for new people and new ideas in the state legislature. This should bring a change in the way things are done in Tennessee. Will it be a change for the better? I do not know the answer to that question yet, but we will find out in 2007.

You can harp on the Republicans or the Democrats all you want, but nothing will change until you make the change. Get out, vote and make a difference. Volunteer for campaigns and work for people you would like to have serving you in office. Remove the ones that you think are causing the problems. Voter apathy is the root of our governmental problems. When you make lazy decisions at the ballot box we all have to deal with those mistakes for at least two years and in other cases longer. Educate yourself, contact those that are in office and attend meetings. Tell your representatives what YOU want and if they don't do it remove them from office. Let all of your representatives know you are out there. When we hold them accountable the numbers will come up and we can all prosper.

I want to thank the wonderful people at CMT/ABATE www.cmtabate.com for allowing me to speak last night. This was the second time this week where I truly felt at home in such a large crowd. It is nice to see this "rowdy" bunch come together and work to change the laws for bikers in Tennessee. I was welcomed with open arms and everyone there took the time to speak with me personally. Everyone there was an activist and their knowledge of the Tennessee system was impressive. These guys know how to get things accomplished in Nashville and around the country for that matter. Whether you are a biker or not CMT/ABATE is a great group and I highly recommend taking the time to speak with them.

Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't "fair" to make the pitcher also bat.Conservatives drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to "govern" the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. WHAT A CIRCUS IT WAS!

Well, the 8th Congressional circus, I mean debates are over. I never knew what a lunatic James Hart was until last night. I knew that he had a skewed view of the world, but nothing that would have ever prepared me for his showing at the debate. Even though Mr. Hart proved to be crazier than advertised, this debate needed to happen.

I must commend John Farmer www.farmerforcongress.com on keeping his composure during the debate. Mr. Hart's grandstanding at some points had me pulling out my hair. It would have been difficult for anyone to keep their cool during Hart's tirades, but John Farmer kept his cool. John Farmer is a professional and gentleman in every sense.

Thinking back on the debate I don't think James Hart answered any questions. Every question was answered with a "favored races" rant by Mr. Hart. The theatrical display was worthy of an Oscar, but there was no substance. Mr. Hart also admitted that the only reason he is running for office is to get publicity for his book. While I do not agree with anything that Mr. Hart says and even though his reason for running is wrong he has the right to say and do as he wishes.

I did not like to see that all of the attention was centered around James Hart when you have an exceptional candidate like John Farmer. John was well spoken and made his points clearly. He was a touch nervous at times, but that is to be expected from all of us. John stands firm on his beliefs and his people skills are second to none. John will make a great legislator and I can only hope that more people like him will enter the political arena.

After the smoke cleared I was elated that there was no real destruction. It was nice to have all of Mr. Hart's psychotic ideology out in the open and to see how Mr. Farmer would react in a debate with Mr. Hart. Now we can say that the voters of District 8 have the information they need on both Mr. Farmer and Mr. Hart. This information should help decide the outcome of the 8th Congressional District Republican Primary. There are no stealthy, under the radar candidates in the Republican Primary. Everyone can now make an informed choice on August 3, 2006 and for this I am thankful.

Why Do We Bother With Laws?

Why do we bother with immigration laws if our elected officials are just going to ignore them? Why waste another tax payer dime on debates and all of the other crap? Eighty percent of the people favor CLOSED BORDERS, but our senate is still considering amnesty. WHERE DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? Who elected them? The same 80% that want our borders closed are the ones that elected them! Why do they continue on the path that 8 out of every 10 people don't want to go down? Who do they represent in Washington DC? TELL ME WHO! Is it the illegal immigrants or the citizens of the United States of America?

What do we as citizens of this country do? How much stronger of a message can we send than 80%? I sure want to know why these folks that my taxes pay their salary would vote against me and for the illegals. Does this make sense to anyone? Am I missing something here that more enlightened folks may know or are we being sold out? Who is getting what out of this deal to make them even consider it?

It is time to take a stand now or be swallowed by the juggernaut that our government is becoming. Take five minutes of your time and contact your legislator and demand, again let me state DEMAND that they do not vote for amnesty for illegal aliens. As soon as I complete this post I can assure you that I will be calling both Frist and Alexander and demand that they support me, their constituent and citizen.

Shelby County Conservative Republican Club

It is wonderful to be in a room full of elected officials and normal folks as well that think like I do. When you think Republican these are the people you think about. Can I Be An Illegal Alien?

As the April 15 tax deadline draws near I look at those that benefit most from our society and it isn't US citizens. Yes, you guessed it, I am talking about illegal aliens. As the working, tax paying people of this country worry about getting their taxes filed and paying in large sums of money there is one segment free from these headaches. This segment gets all of the benefits and maybe some more than you and I do, but they put nothing into the system.

Some folks would argue that as illegals they have to watch over their shoulder and worry about ICE running them out of the country. I don't see that happening. Look at the recent protests in schools, roads, state legislatures, parks and many other places that were built with OUR tax dollars. Does this seem like a worried group of people to you? Is this not the same group requesting that we make them legal? Does this not bother every working man and woman in this nation? Why do we have to pay taxes and follow rules when there are 20,000,000 illegal aliens not doing the same?

Here is some homework for those that think there is nothing wrong with these illegal aliens crashing our gates. How many hospitals in the Los Angeles area were closed due to the non-paying illegal immigrants? How many people die each year in the United States at the hands of illegal aliens? How much money did these illegal aliens send back to Mexico? How many teachers do we have to pay extra to teach ESL classes? ESL for those that don't know is English as a Second Language. How much do we have to pay interpreters in our court rooms to handle the huge number of illegal alien cases that go through our court system every day? Take the time and investigate these questions if you care. If you don't care then do not complain when I take steps to remove illegal aliens from my country.

Think about this as you figure out your taxes for the year. Every time you drive down the road and see the hundreds of illegal aliens waiting to get picked up to go to work think about how much tax money we are losing. These lost tax dollars will have to be paid by someone and that someone is you and me.

Just for the record I do not want to be an illegal alien, but sometimes I wish I was treated as well as they are.

The Flag, Immigration And The Race Card

What will we do? How do we react to the issues I am about to address? I know some people are afraid to touch these issues due to their desire to remain PC. I don't believe in being PC. Being PC is just another term for being a coward. This nation was not founded by cowards, it was founded by men and women that could see the bright future of this nation. It seems to me we are doing our best to destroy everything our Founding Fathers fought for, all in the name of being PC.

A high school principal in Longmont, CO has banned the American Flag. Being fair I must say that he banned all other flags as well, but this is no excuse for banning the American Flag. Tom Stumpf, the principal, cited the recent immigration debates in the US Senate and the protests of them as the reason for the flag ban. He said that students were getting out of hand with the flags and it was an improper showing of patriotism. I can understand him telling the students not to use the flags in an inappropriate manner, but not to ban them. What will they say the Pledge Of Allegiance to in the morning? What about the National Anthem during school sporting events? The flag is an integral part of our society especially when public entities are involved. The school system is a tax payer funded entity of the United States of America therefore the flag should wave.

We are tolerating thousands of illegal aliens storming our state legislative houses to protest the government of a land they are in illegally. We stand idly by as they demand special treatment from our government. Where is ICE? Where is local law enforcement? If this was a gathering of rapists or murderers then the police units would be filled to the brim with criminals, but since this is a PC crime then nothing is done. Why do we tolerate lawlessness in any form? Why do we demand former British or Thai nationals that I know to go through the legal process of obtaining their citizenship, but we don't require it of these people? Is it racism? Is this why we force Asians to go through the process when we don't force the Mexicans? Is being Asian considered a less favored minority? The entire immigration issue boils down to votes. The illegal aliens are allowed in this country and given full benefits of citizenship so that they might vote for whatever group was nicer to them during this ordeal. PC is won't stand for politically correct very much longer and will start standing for pitiful country if we don't stand for what it right.

Now for the race card. US Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) has pulled out the race card as her defense for an altercation with Capitol Police. She cites her being a black woman as the reason for her being stopped and questioned. Never mind that she didn't identify herself when asked three different times to stop and never mind that she assaulted the officer. This clearly has nothing to do with why she was detained it was simply based on her race. Give me a break! I know that racism does exist and I would be a fool or a liar to say it doesn't. There are plenty of instances where blacks are not treated properly due to their race. There are also instances of Indians, Asians, Hispanics and whites being improperly treated because of their race as well. We are not talking tolerance or anything else here we are talking it about it being time for people to take responsibility for their own actions. From what I have read her actions were the driving force behind this altercation. I am white and I know if I rolled into City Hall in Memphis and waltzed through the security checkpoint and did not stop I would be detained. Would I think it was because I was white that I was detained? No it would be from my failure to follow proper procedure and nothing more. Rep. McKinney knew the protocol for entering the Capitol and failed to follow it. As much as people want it to be racial there doesn't seem to be any evidence that would support that claim and as a public official she needs to take responsibility for her actions.

Do we continue on this dangerous path or do we make a change? Do we stand up and take responsibility for our own actions or do we blame others for our shortcomings? When is it enough? When do we accept that we are different and learn to work with it? When do we learn that rules are rules and we all have to follow them? When do we realize that we are all citizens of the United States of America and we have to work for the good of the country? Will it be too late?

Trade Agreements Are They Free Or Fair?

If you take a few minutes and study these free trade agreements like NAFTA and CAFTA you will find that they aren't beneficial to our country. Let's take Tennessee and NAFTA as an example. According to the Economic Policy Institute www.epi.org Tennessee lost 20,028 jobs from 1993-2002. Some people will try and tell you that there was a 15,969 job gain from exports, but they neglect to inform you that there was a 35,996 job loss due to imports. All of these numbers can be verified at www.epi.org. Go to the site and click the Trade/Globalization icon and scroll down a little way. It is all there broken down by state.

I find all of this information deeply disturbing since our US legislators just voted in CAFTA. Almost one million jobs were lost to NAFTA and we add another trade agreement that will do the same. Why did they do this? Where is the benefit to the people of this country? I cannot find one and I challenge anyone else to find one either. The loss of jobs is never good for an economy.

We need to start manufacturing again. Any job gains that we have now are low salaried retail positions because we have given up on manufacturing. Our manufacturing job numbers are the lowest since 1950. Does anyone think we can survive as a nation if we aren't manufacturing goods? Look at what won WWII. It was our ability to manufacture goods. Look at the different businesses that manufactured airplanes, weapons and vehicles that had never manufactured them before. We were able to adapt to the needs of the war and that brought us victory. Could we do that now?

Educate yourself on these trade agreements. When you have done so and you learn what they are all about, contact your elected officials and demand that they do something about them. There is still time for a change, but who knows how long that will last. Take a stand now and help bring back jobs to the United States.

Support Our Troops

Please take a few minutes out of your busy life to do two things. The first would be to pray for our troops wherever they may be. The second would be to thank our troops. Don't just thank the troops that are serving today, but thank all of those that have served in the past as well. Everyone can do this without exception. You don't have to support any war or military action, but be thankful that there are men and women that have chosen to fight and die if they must, so that we can have the freedoms we have today. These people don't just deserve our respect they have earned our respect. There are thousands of young men and women that we will never meet fighting for those of us they will never meet. There is no greater service you can do for you country than take up arms in defense of it. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. I only wish that my service to this country could be as great as yours.
